Lighting Upgrade for RTP’s Studios in Lisbon and Porto.
Use Cases Broadcast & Telcos RTP News Studios

RTP has modernized its news studios in Lisbon and Porto with the aim of improving the visual quality of broadcasts, increasing energy efficiency, and ensuring the technical conditions required by today’s television production standards. For this project, Pantalha was chosen as the technological partner and supplier of PROLIGHTS professional lighting solutions, in collaboration with SLS – Sound and Light Systems.

Challenge

The studios required LED lighting with high color rendering, suitable for the precision demanded by broadcast cameras; energy-efficient solutions to reduce operational costs and heat output; flexible control to quickly adapt to different broadcast setups; and full integration between various types of lighting to guarantee uniformity and visual consistency.

 Implemented Solution

Pantalha supplied a complete PROLIGHTS system, which was integrated and installed by SLS – Sound and Light Systems. The solution included:

Main lighting and soft key:

This set ensures soft, balanced light with accurate color rendering—essential for presenters and guests.

Key, contour, and background lighting:

These fixtures offer precise control, a wide CCT range, and tonal consistency for demanding studio environments.

Effects, fill, and scene dynamics:

These projectors contribute additional visual depth with high chromatic versatility.

Cyclorama and general fill lighting:

These ensure uniform coverage of cycloramas and background surfaces, delivering consistent results on camera.

Results

Thanks to the collaboration between Pantalha and SLS, RTP’s new studios now benefit from superior visual quality, with uniform lighting, consistent tones across all cameras, and high-level color reproduction; energy efficiency and reduced heat, as PROLIGHTS LED technology lowers operational costs and improves studio comfort; greater control and flexibility, enabling quick, precise adjustments to broadcast scenarios and a sustainable, future-proof solution, thanks to robust, low-consumption equipment with excellent long-term performance.
