Carbonite HyperMax sets a new standard in real-time production, offering powerful flexibility through a single license and three distinct operational modes: MaxME, MaxMini, and MaxScene.

MaxME – serves as the main video mixing engine, offering:

• Up to 6 Full Keyers with DVE Combiners;
• Support for Media Wipes and configurable clean feeds;
• Compatibility with all standard formats up to 2160p/60 (4K UHD);
• Up to 14 2D DVE channels in HD and 6 in UHD;
• 4 3D DVE channels in HD and 1 in UHD;
• 4 UltraChrome chroma key channels and 4 MediaStore Channels with Alpha;
• 1 UHD Clip Player (supports upscaling of 1080p clips).

MaxMini – allows up to 21 MiniMEs, each with:

• 2 Full Keyers with DVE Combiners;
• Combined outputs for PGM, PVW, and Alpha;
• Up to 15 2D DVE channels (HD) and 5 (UHD);
• 3 UltraChrome channels and 4 MediaStores;
• 1 UHD Clip Player and a dedicated MultiViewer for MiniMEs.

MaxScene – ideal for virtual environments and graphic-intensive productions:

• Up to 8 layers per scene with DVE Combiners;
• Up to 56 scenes with 8 SDPE blades;
• 16 2D DVE channels (HD) and 8 (UHD);
• 4 3D DVE channels (HD) and 1 (UHD);
• 3 UltraChrome channels, 8 MediaStores, and UHD Clip Player;
• Dedicated MultiViewer per scene.

One License, Three Modes.

At the heart of HyperMax is the SDPE (Software Defined Production Engine). This modular system scales with the number of SDPE blades (from 2 to 8), which can be distributed across the modes according to production needs. For example:

• With 4 SDPEs, you can run up to 4 MaxMEs, or 9 MiniMEs, or 24 MaxScene scenes;
• With 8 SDPEs, the system reaches its full potential: 8 MaxMEs, 21 MiniMEs, or 56 MaxScene scenes.

SDPE Mode Configurations

This modularity enables complex productions with multiple layers, effects, chroma keying, and full integration with other Ross systems — including the Ultrix FR5 and FR12 platforms for advanced signal routing and processing. The table below illustrates the maximum number of I/O boards and total I/Os available per configuration. The Ultrix FR-5 (9 slots) allows up to 142x142 I/Os with 1 SDPE blade, while the FR-12 (16 slots) supports up to 270x270 I/Os, scalable according to the number of blades and I/O boards.

In summary, key features include:

• Up to 8 SDPE blades per system, with up to 56 simultaneous scenes;
• Support for resolutions up to 2160p/60 (UHD);
• Advanced chroma key tools (UltraChrome), 2D and 3D DVE, MediaStore with alpha channels, Clip Player, and MultiViewer;
