In television, broadcast, audiovisual production, and live events, clear and reliable communication is essential to ensure that every team member works in sync. Coordination and communication among professionals allow for a rapid response to production needs and help prevent communication breakdowns.
To help professionals tackle these challenges, our partner RTS Intercom offers solutions that simplify intercom system configuration and adapt communication to different contexts.
In this article, we introduce the launch of the RTS bundles and take a closer look at the new RTS Edge.
RTS Intercom Bundles
Implementing an intercom system can involve selecting multiple pieces of equipment, checking compatibilities, and preparing the installation. When each component is purchased separately, this process can become more time-consuming and complex.
Therefore, RTS Intercom has created two bundles designed to simplify this task. Right from the start, by selecting one of these bundles, you get an organized solution containing the essential elements to establish communication among your team members. This way, professionals can focus on production preparation instead of wasting time individually selecting and validating each piece of equipment.
What does each bundle include and what is the function of each device?
- OMS Advanced 5F: the core of the intercom system, which centralizes and manages communication, acting as a control point for other compatible equipment. The OMS integrates communication and audio routing features according to the installed configuration.
- DBP-5F: the beltpacks used by professionals to communicate with the rest of the team. They are designed for individual use, allowing each operator to access the intercom system while working, without needing to stay near the main station.
- A5M Lightweight Headset: the headset with a microphone that allows users to listen to system communications and speak with other team members. The PH-88 R5 reference indicated in the bundle refers to the headset's characteristics: lightweight, single-sided use, dynamic noise-canceling microphone, and adjustable boom.
- MCP-90-12: the gooseneck microphone connected to the main station, the OMS.
What is the difference between the two bundles?
The choice depends primarily on team size and corresponds to the number of included beltpacks.
- OMS 4DBP Bundle A5F: designed for smaller teams, offering 4 beltpacks.
It is an option to consider for small productions, compact technical crews, permanent installations, or events that require coordinated communication without overly complex setups.
- OMS 8DBP Bundle A5F: designed for larger teams, offering 8 beltpacks.
It is the suitable alternative for larger-scale productions, live events, expanded technical crews, and environments where multiple professionals need to be coordinated simultaneously.
Why is it worth choosing a bundle?
In short, opting for a bundle means more than just purchasing multiple pieces of equipment together. It means simplifying the system preparation process and reducing the effort required to select components.
RTS Edge
Productions are increasingly distributed. Not all professionals work in the same location, and the need to maintain fast and reliable communication among remote teams is growing more frequent.
RTS Edge is a virtual panel solution that extends the use of the intercom infrastructure to external devices—such as smartphones, tablets, and computers—via an app (available for Android and iOS) and web browsers, all without the need to install additional dedicated physical panels for those users. This way, professionals can access the virtual panel and communicate via the RTS system.
Integration with ODIN and ADAM Matrices
The solution is designed to work with compatible RTS ODIN and ADAM matrices, allowing remote users to be integrated into the existing infrastructure according to available configuration and licenses. This makes it possible to expand communication possibilities without replacing the entire installed infrastructure.
Communication across external networks generally requires specific technical mechanisms to establish connections between devices and infrastructures protected by firewalls or NAT.
Consequently, RTS Edge may require specific mechanisms to facilitate connections over the internet. STUN (Session Traversal Utilities for NAT) helps devices figure out how to establish connections through routers that use NAT - a technology that allows multiple devices to share a single public IP address - while TURN (Traversal Using Relays around NAT) routes traffic through an intermediary server when a direct connection between devices cannot be established.
Together, these technologies help overcome connectivity difficulties that may arise on external networks, including 4G/5G mobile connections and networks protected by firewalls or complex NAT configurations.
To simplify this process, Pantalha provides and manages the STUN/TURN infrastructure required for the RTS Edge solution, reducing technical complexity for the client and preventing their IT team from having to manage this component of the infrastructure. This way, professionals can focus on what truly matters: keeping teams connected, even when working from different locations.
Subscription and Pricing
RTS Edge operates via an annual subscription, activated directly on the compatible ODIN or ADAM matrix.
With attractive subscription options and pricing, RTS Edge is a compelling alternative for organizations looking to extend communication to remote teams without investing in additional physical panels for every user.
